2023 SPRING TESTING DATES ANNOUNCED:
The Montana Firefighter Testing Consortium (MFTC) conducts firefighter testing for employment with any of the departments belonging to the Consortium. Departments that are members of the MFTC are Big Sky FD, Billings FD, Bozeman FD, Butte-Silver Bow FD, Central Valley (Belgrade area) FD, Frenchtown FD, Kalispell FD, Great Falls FD, Havre FD, Helena FD, Lockwood FD, Miles City FD, Missoula FD, and Missoula Rural FD. WRITTEN EXAM: The MFTC requires candidates to complete both the written examination and CPAT through Public Safety Testing (PST). Written exam events are available via our online, in-home testing program, as well as in-person at PST test sites throughout the Pacific Northwest and at various partner college test sites across the US. Written exam events are also scheduled in Billings, MT, annually.
CPAT: The MFTC requires candidates to complete both the written examination and CPAT through Public Safety Testing (PST). CPAT events (Orientation, Practice Test, & CPAT Test) are available in Kent, WA, and Spokane, WA.
CPAT events are also scheduled in Billings, MT, annually. If you have never taken a CPAT Test, you are highly encouraged to participate in a free CPAT Orientation.

TESTING DEADLINES: The MFTC's next testing deadline is in May 2023. The Consortium is always available for testing through PST in order to keep the candidate pool as current as possible. Departments will review scores on an as-needed basis, as determined by the agency. Be sure to review each department profile below to make sure you meet any department-specific deadline! Deadlines are set by each agency, not by PST.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Montana Code 7-33-4107. Qualifications of firefighters. Minimum requirements are described below (please note that some agencies have additional requirements as noted in their department profile).
